We would be delighted to welcome you to
the Merriman Hotel.
The hotel, which has the largest
thatched roof in Ireland, consists of 32 bedrooms, 'The Quilty Restaurant' and
'M'asal Beag Dubh Bar'. Our friendly staff will help you enjoy your stay and
should you have any special requests please ask.
The hotel is named after Bryan Merriman
(1747 - 1805), who, born in Co. Clare, was son of a small landowner. An
accomplished violinist and teacher of mathemathics, his famous racy poem, "The
Midnight Court", runs to over 1000 lines. The poem is full of intricate
brilliance and musical mastery.
New York Times - Mr. Dan Barry
"Late that afternoon we stopped nine miles short of Gort in the seaport
village of Kinvara, where we spent the night at the pleasant relatively new
hotel called the Merriman. Kinvara was fairly quiet. We walked its narrow
streets, pubs and the occasional shop catering to visitors....... It seemed to
us that the village had struck a wonderful balance between tourism and a
dedication to preserving its beauty.
Kinvara also provided one of those serene moments destined to linger in
memory........drinking stout, eating smoked salmon and watching the boats bob
in Kinvara Bay."
