2014 marks the 111th anniversary of the Galway St Patrick's Day Parade and the Galway parade will feature an exciting mix of marching bands, local community groups, dancing groups, pipe bands and local business floats. With groups coming from all over the world, expect the streets to burst into life as the centre of the city is set to become transformed by a riot of colour and sound. The Parade start time will be 11.30am and finishing at approximately 1.00pm.
The theme of the 2014 Parade is “The Sea”.
This amazingly rich resource, sitting on our doorstep will see the parade flow through the city with folllowing concepts running through; The Sea; Snakes; Myths & Legends and finally St. Patrick. The parade will commence with; "The Sea" a great force of nature flowing through Galway City's streets and demonstrating our relationship with the sea here in Galway;closely followed by the colous, sights and sounds of, " The Snakes, Muths and Legends" being chased towards the sea by a multiple of St. Patricks to be banished from this island of Ireland forever more.
