With a wealth of historic castles, houses and monuments, Galway East resounds to the
echoes of the past...
We would be delighted to welcome you to
the Merriman Hotel.
The hotel, which has the largest
thatched roof in Ireland, consists of 32 bedrooms, 'The Quilty Restaurant' and
'M'asal Beag Dubh Bar'. Our friendly staff will help you enjoy your stay and
should you have any special requests please ask.
The hotel is named after Bryan Merriman
(1747 - 1805), who, born in Co. Clare, was son of a small landowner. An
accomplished violinist and teacher of mathemathics, his famous racy poem, "The
Midnight Court", runs to over 1000 lines. The poem is full of intricate
brilliance and musical mastery.
